Dear Friends,
This Giving Tuesday, we are excited to present two upcoming events and a premiere of our latest video highlighting this year's successes.
Join us today for an event on the discrimination in Jerusalem's urban policies and mark your calendars for next Sunday December 5th for an event on Israeli surveillance of Palestinians in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.
Details are below!
As we continue our crowdfunding campaign during Hanukkah, help us spread light in the face of darkness and donate today to ensure Jerusalem remains the present home and future capital of both peoples - Israelis and Palestinians alike.
We wish all who are celebrating a Happy Hanukkah,

A month ago, Breaking the Silence revealed in a Washington Post expose a vast surveillance operation taking place in the West Bank to track and monitor Palestinians using facial recognition technology on smartphones, cameras, and a photo database.
The same day, 7amleh – The Arab Center for Social Media published a report exposing how increasingly high-tech surveillance of East Jerusalem residents – including video, biometric, and digital surveillance has constrained freedom of movement, impeded Palestinian residents' right to privacy, and eroded Palestinians' freedom of expression on and offline.
Join us on Sunday Dec 5th to dive into the methodology and consequences of increased surveillance of Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Featuring:
Amir Ziv grew up in Jerusalem, and enlisted into the IDF at 19 where he served in the Occupied Territories between 2008-2011 in the 50th battalion of the NAHAL brigade. Amir is now the pedagogy coordinator at Breaking the Silence.
Sophia Goodfriend is a Ph.D. candidate in Anthropology at Duke University with expertise in digital rights and digital surveillance in Israel/Palestine. She joined 7amleh, the Arab Center for Social Media Advancement, as a researcher in the Summer of 2021 to investigate the impact of digital surveillance among Palestinian Jerusalemites.
Moderated by: Rachel Schwartz, Coordinator of international Public Outreach at Ir Amim
