Maybe you've heard. At long last, we're planning to replace the seats in our theaters in the early months of 2022. There's a row of the actual seats right now in our lobby. (See photo.)
We're hoping the people who want to sit in the seats will help defray the cost. This page on our website gives details on how to buy — and name — a seat. Find the PayPal buttons at the bottom of that page if you'd like to purchase online, or come into the cinema and try before you buy.
Meanwhile, you'll have plenty of reasons to occupy the old seats in December. Another film with Oscar buzz opens this Friday, joining two returning blockbusters. And our special holiday screenings for December get started this weekend.
The latest film from Jane Campion (THE PIANO) is being mentioned as a likely Oscar nominee in a number of categories, including Best Picture and Best Director — and there's lots of talk about Benedict Cumberbatch for Best Actor. The film has traveled the festival circuit and earned a 95% Rotten Tomatoes score. If you like to check out reviews, this one on Vox might be a good place to start.
December is for movies
In addition to the annual December pre-Oscar bounty, we've scheduled a number of special screenings to stir up those warm feelings of the season — and a thing or two for those whose attitude is more, shall we say, ironic.

PLEASE NOTE: Cinema Salem requires masks in all areas of the cinema, unless you are eating or drinking in your theater seat. We will gladly give you a mask if you need one. Just ask at the counter.
PLEASE WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE VACCINATED
BEFORE YOU COME TO THE MOVIES.
