Starting this week, tree planting will begin on campus and in the community near campus. Planting will continue for the next few weeks. Each tree that was removed during construction will be replaced, and in some cases, will be replaced with two trees.
The college has been working with an arborist to develop a robust selection of trees that will beautify the campus landscape and also minimize potential future impacts of pests, disease, and climate change that could harm the tree canopy.
Phase two construction will take place next spring with a focus on north campus including Lorain, Woodland, and Union Streets. Tree replacement will also be part of this phase of work.
When phase two construction begins next spring, weekly email communications regarding project details will resume.
