An Evening with David Calavitta

David is a passionate Catholic in love with Christ and his Church. He’s also very much in love with his beautiful wife, Brittany, and their son, Judah. David has been blessed to serve the Church through youth ministry in various ways since 2000. In addition to his speaking ministry, he currently serves as the director of Creative and Marketing for Life Teen International.

Diocesan Mass for Life and Week for Life

Join Bishop Malesic for the Annual Diocesan Mass for Life on January 12, 10am at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist! Register your group to attend the Mass HERE.

A special media kit with videos and other resources will be available on the diocesan website shortly in preparation for the Week for Life. Over the course of the week leading up to the Mass for Life, we will be highlighting the many ways we value life from conception to natural death. Each day of the week will include a new video and social media posting, culminating in the Mass for Life. We are releasing the videos and other resources ahead of time to allow youth ministers, parish catechetical leaders, school teachers, and parents to review the materials for personal use in their own settings that week (and throughout the year).

The Catholic Diocese of Cleveland has not issued any specific guidelines regarding parish groups attending the March for Life in Washington, D.C.

Desert Day Retreat

“Come away by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.” Mark 6:31a

This event is geared for those who work with middle and high school teens - especially youth ministers, campus ministers, youth ministry volunteers, and Parish Catechetical Leaders.

It is hard to keep giving from an empty cup, so spend time with the Lord and be filled. This will be a quiet day of prayer. We will start with an inspiring talk and then go on our own to read, reflect, respond, and pray in solitude with God. Mass, Adoration, Confession, and Spiritual Direction will be available. We will provide materials to reflect on or you are welcome to bring your own.

Register online HERE.

Blue Christmas

Tuesday, December 21 is the longest night of the year. On this day, some parishes hold prayer vigils that honor people that are experiencing grief or loss of some sort, making the holidays difficult for them. The Office for Marriage & Family Life Ministry has created a toolkit to assist you if you would like to host an event at your parish for those suffering through loss this year.  Click HERE for the folder with the tool-kit. There’s a Spanish version also.

Virtus Training

Children deserve to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment. Sadly, many do not. We can help to interrupt the cycle of grooming behaviors and consequent abuse. Please consider becoming a VIRTUS facilitator so you can help to create safe environments for our children. Ideal candidates include those who have excellent communication and organizational skills, are comfortable speaking in front of groups of people on the sensitive topic of child sexual abuse, and who want to positively impact this issue of the safety of children. Training for Facilitators is an intensive full-day course conducted by the Sharon Minson and will be held in January 2022 (date TBD) at the diocesan offices in Cleveland.  Contact Sharon Minson, Director, to sign up. Call her at 216.696.6525 x 1157 with questions. Thank you for helping us to keep all of God’s children safe!
