Rapid hepatitis C testing campaign hits Regional Victoria
LiverWELL teamed up with Ballarat Community Health and Uniting to hold an information day in Ballarat and Horsham. With healthy food and drink, information and support from staff and brochures, people in the community were encouraged to get tested and treated for hepatitis C. The outreach project is supported by Burnet Institute
City of Dandenong Maternal and Child Health Workshop
Our team delivered a workshop for Maternal and Child Health staff from Dandenong City Council. The workshop focussed on hepatitis B and C for women, pregnancy, and vaccination for mothers and babies.
Inspired by Aboriginal Community in Shepparton
An inspiring Welcome to Country by Uncle Lance kicked off the day at Rumbalara Cooperative, which brought together the local Aboriginal community who had been treated for hepatitis C. Mandy shared her lived experience story, andparticipants reflected about being cured from hepatitis C. These reflections will be used to create a resource to encourage people to access treatment and reduce stigma.

Liver organoids research
New research is being led by St Vincent’s Institute aims to develop liver ‘organoids’ which could be used as replacement liver tissue in conditions of liver disease. The research is being led by A/Prof Geraldine Mitchell, Yi-wen Gerrand, Prof Wayne Morrison and LiverWELL Board member, Dr Kiryu Yap.
