The recording from Monday's program about the THINK Spot at Mesa's Red Mountain library and the other services available at the library is available on the Club's website under program recordings and via the link below.

The program includes information about the equipment available at the Red Mountain Library (3D printers, vinyl cutters, sewing machines, green room video area, and more).

Free downloadable entertainment including movies, magazines, music, and of course books are available with a Mesa Library Card. It's easy for LW residents to get a card, whether you're a year-round resident, here part of the year, or are a renter.

Next Monday's program is about cybersecurity with a live presentation from Bob Gostischa (aka "Bob G.") from Tech for Seniors. We will meet in the Rec 1 theater and share the meeting on Zoom. Bob G. will also join us via Zoom.

The "Program Calendar" tab on the Club's website has our schedule of topics. It will continue to be updated as new programs, meetings, and classes are added. The Zoom link for Monday programs will also be included in the Calendar.
A Tip from Chris Winter
"Cox or Century Link?"

I am asked this question quite often, and hands down I would choose Cox every time. Cox has faster speeds and in my experience is more reliable.

I know many of you have had issues with Cox internet going down, so let's cover the top reasons why you're having Cox internet problems.

1.  We all know Leisure World was built in the 1970s. Many of the lines Cox uses are out of date so they are constantly upgrading the area.

2.  There could be a break in the line from the Cox box outside to your house or a splitter has gone bad. This issue will be fixed by Cox at no extra charge. The summer weather is brutal on anything left outside, and Cox equipment is no different. After years of dry heat, these things can and will go bad. A common symptom I've seen of a line break is that as the day gets hotter and the ground shrinks, your connection starts dropping because the line moves just enough for it to lose the signal.

3.  Stop renting the Cox modem! I've seen so many issues with Cox modems, from slow internet, to dropping WiFi and even wireless printers not communicating with your computer. Those rental fees add up fast and could be paying for your own modem/router instead of renting from Cox. Anyone who has had me out knows I am very particular about technology and don't ever go cheap since we really get what we pay for. My favorite modem/router combo is the Netgear Nighthawk docs 3.1. From speed to reliability, I've not seen any better!

4.  The last and least likely culprit could be the coax cable outlets on your wall. Not only are they aging, they are also cheap builder-grade outlets. They just weren't designed for today's internet speeds. I've changed quite a few over the years. So, If covering every angle of your home's internet reliability is your goal, consider changing them out.

Some of the streaming highlights for the month of December are listed below: Roku has had some issues lately. Some customers have been unable to stream content from multiple services. This seems to affect customers using older streaming sticks and smart TVs. Review Geek has the details in their article, "Roku Says Sorry for Breaking Your TV".
