Three years ago on Chanukah, two rabbis-turned-programmers were looking for a way to keep in touch over their shared interests, and Torah&&Tech was born.

At the time, I don't think either of us would have imagined that our small project would still be going strong three years later, reaching 250 readers a week and even spawning a book!

At the time, we figured starting on Chanukah was pretty auspicious; Chanukah means "dedication" (as in Chanukat Habayit, the ceremony conducted at the dedication of the Beit Hamikdash that first Chanukah), and we couldn't think of a better time to dedicate our new project.

Now, three years later, celebrating our Chanukah birthday is still as appropriate as ever! The word Chanukah comes from the word Chinuch, education, as well.

According to Jewish tradition, children begin their Jewish education (Chinuch) at the age of three. Now that our baby newsletter has reached the age of three, we are ready to enter a new phase where it graduates into a mature project that will continue to grow and educate more and more people.

Another significant milestone around the number three is mentioned in our celebratory tweet above. In Jewish law, three years constitutes a Chazakah, or an established fact. When something is around for three years, it is presumed to be a valid entity and becomes part of the status quo.

In other words, Torah&&Tech is here, and it's here to stay!

Looking forward to many more years of sharing our thoughts and conversations around the Torah and Tech intersection.

Chanukah Sameach and Shabbat Shalom,

Yechiel and Ben
