Sabotage of SAPO's head selection escalates

On December 2, the scheduled meeting of the SAPO's head Selection Commis was abruptly cancelled despite the quorum. The meeting w disrupted to prevent the publication of the results of the latest stage and advance selection to the final interviews. Following this, the independent members of the Commission issued a statement urging to renew the process and protect its integrity.

According to our information, members of the commission, controlled by the Deputy Head of the President’s Office Oleg Tatarov, are preparing to falsify their scores. Moreover, on December 1, people of Oleg Tatarov organized a paid "rally" in front of the President’s office to discredit the candidate, who is now winning according to the announced scores. 
Ethics Council held the first official meeting
On December 1, the Ethics Council held its first meeting. It selected the head of Council - judge of the Supreme Court Lev Kyshakevych and approved the first two sections of the Rules of Procedure. Members of the Ethics Council also determined that the examination of the integrity of members of the High Council of Justice will begin on February 8, 2022. 
Firtash has to return ZTMC to state ownership
On November 30, the Central Economic Court of Appeal confirmed the decision of the lower instance court to return 49% of shares of Zaporizhia Titanium Magnesium Combine (ZTMC), which belonged to Dmytro Firtash's Tolexis Trading from Group DF, to the management of the State Property Fund of Ukraine. The lawsuit was initiated by the SAPO in 2016.
Investigation into alleged concealing of information about the accident at Akhmetov’s plant
Investigation of the journalists of the “Schemes” project and AntAC revealed that in early November, a large-scale accident happened at the Burshtyn thermal power plant, owned by Rinat Akhmetov's DTEK. The accident may have caused severe environmental damages. The full investigation is available here (with English subtitles). Following the investigation, the CSOs appealed to the Parliament demanding to adopt the laws that will start the reform in the field of state environmental control.
Ukraine’s Anti-corruption Theory of Change. Lessons Learned and Way Forward
On November 29, the AntAC held a public event dedicated to assessing the achievements of Ukraine’s anti-corruption fight and discussing the plans for the next five years. The ANtAC presented its memo “Ukraine’s anti-corruption theory of change”. Please read the summary of the panel discussions. The full video of the event is available here.
