Help us move transit forward!
Over the last several months, the City of Hattiesburg and the Hattiesburg-Petal-Forrest-Lamar Metropolitan Planning Organization (HPFL-MPO) have worked through a public engagement phase of the Hub City Transit Master Plan. After compiling feedback from you and many area residents, a draft of the plan is available for review and comment through the links below.
If you would like to review the plan documents in person, we invite you to join us on Thursday, Dec. 9 for an open house event. Transit and planning officials will be on hand to walk participants through three information stations. A hard copy of the plan can also be reviewed in the MPO offices, located at Hattiesburg City Hall (200 Forrest Street) through December 31.
Comments will be accepted throughout the month of December, and all comments will be considered prior to the adoption of the final plan.
This is your opportunity to make comments on recommended changes, mobility options and long-term funding strategies for Hub City Transit. The plan will serve as a roadmap for improving public transit over the next five to 10 years by enhancing service in and around Hattiesburg, Petal and surrounding portions of Forrest and Lamar counties. The final Hub City Transit Master Plan is expected to be developed and presented to the Hattiesburg City Council for review and adoption by Spring of 2022.
Your feedback has played a vital role in both phases one and two, and we hope you'll join us in this third and final phase of public input!
Should you have questions, they can be emailed to mpo@hattiesburgms.com. Anyone who may require auxiliary aids or special accommodations (including Spanish or other language assistance) to participate can contact 601-545-6259 or aesters@hattiesburgms.com. Arrangements for assistance to participate will need to be made by Friday, Dec. 3.
