Drip-Drop, Tick-Tock, Here + Now
Thru Wednesday, December 8
Drip-Drop, Tick-Tock, Here + Now Joseph Fucigna’s One-Person Exhibition

Now Throughout his career, Fucigna enjoyed taking modest industrial materials and transforming them into elegant yet provocative abstractions. His sculptures, paintings, and drawings are rooted in process, play, and the innate qualities of the materials. Through experimentation and innovation, Fucigna creates works that are known for their power to transform materials, ingenuity, and odd but compelling subject matter. The ultimate goal is to create an artwork that is a perfect balance between suggestive content and the formal qualities of the materials that allow both to be active participants.

The exhibition contains sculptures and paintings from 2010 to the present, with emphasis on new works created since 2019.

The Burt Chernow Galleries are open to the public. Admission is free. Please call 203-332-5203 for information.

The Gallery Talk Thursday, November 11 | 2:15 PM TO 3:15 P.M

Join the Viewers’ Talk at City Lights Gallery #21A. Curator Suzanne Kachmar and storyteller Nina Lesiga host a community conversation with viewers and visitors discussing what they see in the art on view. Art is interactive and viewers are encouraged to be actively involved in what the art is expressing, this breaks with the tradition of an artists’ talk, where the artists lead the conversation.

Exhibiting artists: Maralyn Adlin, Carlos Bautista Biernnay, Claude Desir Jr, Dan Makara, Marcella Kurkowski, Tunde Odunlade, Mark Rich, Gerald Saladyga, Isabella Saraceni, Roxanne Faber Savage, Scott Schuldt, Joan Wheeler and curated by Suzanne Kachmar.

Fiber art, paintings, drawing, and assemblage in this exhibit contain contradictory, ambiguous content with complex imagery and compositions. Although materials and techniques vary, all artists in this exhibit practice the sincere process of artmaking, combining automatism, criticism, and plan.

This exhibit encourages the viewer to spend time with complexity and uncertainty and find meaning from the personal interaction with the art. The show is designed to encourage that we maintain an open mind and an open heart.
