Help Wanted and Thank-yous
This is a call out for mince pies, both for Carols by Candlelight and for Light Up Nativity.  Please sign up on the sheet by the door.  We do not have any freezer space so would appreciate donations as near to the event as possible.  Thank you.

We also need more people to help with Light Up Nativity on Christmas Eve - please look in your inbox for an electronic sign up form or talk to James or Sue Huntington.  If you have spare fairy lights which we could borrow (suitable for Christmas trees), we still need lots!

Christingle:  empty standard size tin cans needed. Please leave in the church entrances thank you.  Also, assorted foliage needed as near to 18th dec as possible - we anticipate needing to make 100 tin can table decorations!
Church Fellowship  Our Christmas Party is on Thursday 9th December at 7.00p.m.   Could members please bring a savoury dish for our buffet, puddings will be provided.   Visitors are very welcome to join us.

A message from the Superintendent of the Circuit, Rev Clare Stainsby

" It is good that this Advent and Christmas season we are able to worship in our churches and meet together.  However we do still need to be cautious as Covid is still around.     We are suggesting that on a regular basis you carry out a lateral flow test before going to a gathering of any kind.     Please go to the following link to order free tests for yourself.
 https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests

We would also encourage mask wearing in church wherever possible.  Thank you for looking after yourself and others.
Clare Stainsby
The prayers have been removed from the prayer tree and been given to a member of the congregation to pray over in a quiet time.

I have changed the tree to the Advent season. Please feel free to write your prayers of petition or thanks on a card from the box and peg it on the tree.
Thank you, Judy Ash.
Mission Giving Updates:
  • Thank you to everyone who gave to the Fund For Human Need collection following the recent service about generosity.  We have topped up the money given from our mission budget and have sent £300.  Sharron.

  • Winter Fuel Allowances  It is that time of year again and many of us are receiving our winter fuel allowances from the government.  Some of us may not need all of it and, as in previous years, we are inviting those who are able to donate to send what they can to the church for us to pass on to Holme Wood.  Given the increase in fuel bills and the removal of the Universal Credit top up, we know that there is even more need there than before.  If you are able to give anything please send a cheque made payable to The Eldwick Church to Sharron, with a note to say what it is for.  If you want to make an electronic transfer please note Winter Fuel in the narrative or if, like me, you struggle to do this, please email me and I will make sure that it is correctly allocated.

  • The Mission Giving Committee will be meeting in early December to agree our donations to both UK and overseas charities for the balance of this year.  If you have a particular charity which you would like the church to support please speak with Dorothy Walker, Carleen Richardson, Rowena Gillow or Sharron Arnold.  If you have a leaflet which gives details of the work done and where the money is to be sent, so much the better.

A huge thank you to the army of people who turned up last week to work in the church garden. It has been very much appreciated
Did you know that Leeds Diocese has an Environmental Officer?  Jemima Parker wrote an article for last week's E-News.  Here's what she had to say about what COP 26 means for the Diocese...
