COVID-19: Tauranga at Orange

People visiting Tauranga’s staffed public-facing facilities now need to show their My Vaccine Pass as Tauranga moves to the COVID-19 Protection Framework at Orange. Check our website for updates. Stay safe Tauranga.

Council services over the summer break

We are closed over the Christmas break from 5pm 24 December and re-open at 8am on 10 January 2022. We will still have essential services operating over the Christmas break. You can view these services and operating hours here.

Civic Precinct Masterplan

The refreshed masterplan for the civic precinct has been formally adopted by the Commission – another strong signal that an exciting transformation of our city centre is within reach. Find out more here.

Our city centre will see a lot of change over the next 10 years, within the civic precinct and beyond. To structure this we’re refreshing the strategy for the heart of our city and creating an action plan to rejuvenate the area. Find out more.

Bus interchange on the move in 2022

Tauranga’s central city bus interchange will be temporarily relocated to Durham Street (between Wharf and Spring Streets) from March 2022 as part of the civic precinct redevelopment. Read more here.

A potential new home for Mount Maunganui playcentre

Outdoor watering restrictions are in place

People use around 30% more water in the peak of summer compared to other months. Sprinklers and irrigation systems are a no-go from December to March but handheld hoses with a trigger nozzle are A-okay for an hour between 7pm and 10pm. Find out more.
