Twilight series of Park events
Last Friday we had a twilight event at the Orange campus of CSU. Although it had rained in the afternoon the weather was fine for the event even though we got wet feet. Thirteen brave people attended and enjoyed some good courses set by Jean Baldwin. Rob Bennett won the long course of just over 3 km in 14 minutes with Matthew Slater winning the Medium course.
When your committee planned our Park series of events, we did not envisage that we would have one of the wettest Novembers on record. Perhaps the crystal ball of forecasting was already cloudy.
Our final Park event will be this Friday, 3 December at the Botanic Gardens, re-scheduled from last month. Starts are from 6pm. There will be the normal 3 courses, Short, Medium and Long. It will be the last opportunity to gain points in the point-scoring competition for Under 13, and 13–16-year-old children with separate categories for girls and boys.
Unfortunately, there is the possibility of a shower on Friday afternoon. Despite this we are planning to proceed with the event, but watch the GS website, in case we have to cancel due to a storm. Come along, run and go home for a nice warm shower and dinner. Presentation evening
Margaret and Nick Wilmott have very kindly offered to host our end of year presentation evening on their property at 51 Oaky Creek Lane, Vittoria. Starting at 5pm. There will be a range of activities including a garden O. There will be a BBQ available for a communal cook up of whatever you like to bring. Please also bring folding chairs and a salad or dessert to share. This will be followed by the presentation of NSW and club awards. Many children in our club have won NSW awards which nobody would want to miss out on! PLEASE LET NICK (0424 221 615) or MARGARET (0424 816 980) KNOW YOU ARE COMING
Street series events Our 2022 Street series program starts at 6pm on 4 February at the Max Stewart Park, Seiben Drive, Belair. We look forward to seeing you there, hopefully in drier weather. The other three events are at Clover Hil, Calare and Brookland’s, see our website https://sites.google.com/view/goldseekerssite I wish you all a very happy Christmas and hope the New Year brings you all good health and a better year than most of us experienced in 2021.
