December 2021
THANK YOU FOR THANKSGIVING!
Thank you! This year, you made it possible for our older and disabled neighbors to receive not just a meal on Thanksgiving, but also the joy of the holidays with a visit from someone they know cares, YOU!!

Because of your support, over 300 carloads of volunteers delivered 2,000 hot and fresh Thanksgiving meals.

If you couldn't join us on Thanksgiving Day, you can catch up on the fun via our social media!

Employee Spotlight: 19 Years and Counting
When it comes to employees who step up and make it happen, there's not a lot who shine brighter than our dedicated Kitchen Team, led by Kitchen Manager, Oscar Lucio.

Oscar stepped into the role of managing the kitchen at the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020. At the time the kitchen was producing 3,000 meals a day. Now, with Oscar's steadfast leadership, this incredible team is producing 10,000 meals a day to ensure that senior neighbors don't go hungry. Oscar was recently featured in an Express-News article that you can read here.

Grace Place Alzheimer's Services

Graceful Gatherings was created to allow caregivers and their loved ones with Alzheimer’s Disease or dementia a chance to gather with others for socialization, peer support, caregiver education, tips, and resources.

Those with dementia can participate in fun activities with trained staff while caregivers learn and discuss! Our next Graceful Gathering will be Friday, December 10 at 1 PM. There will be a Christmas performance by Grace Notes Choir along with a UT Health presentation on home safety and fall prevention. Please reach out to Christina Avena if you are interested in joining. We would love to have you!

We will also be hosting our monthly virtual caregiver support group. The support group will be held Saturday, December 11 at 10 am. In partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, Meals on Wheels San Antonio's caregiver support is a time where caregivers come to find resources, ideas, and, most importantly, support.
