A World of Colours
In November, we launched our first newsletter to share with you the uniqueness of the studio. In this issue, we keep up with our explorations while looking at the 90's and colours. It was in 1986 that Diana Sanderson opened her studio on Granville Island. What did it look like, you wonder? It was already full of colours.

“From the first dye class at Handcraft House Textile School in the 1970's, I was fascinated with the transformation of fibre and yarns, whether it be natural or synthetic dyes. The depth and vibrancy of colour on silk were what drew me to this amazing fibre and I've never turned back. Once I became comfortable with dyeing silk, an endless world of possibilities opened up as to what colour combinations I could achieve.” Diana, November 2021

Over the years, Diana has generously offered opportunities and welcomed contributions. In the '90s, students from Capilano College came for six weeks practicums, while others (Eve Kriss, Kassie Ruth, Jane MacKenzie, and Merilee Shaw to name a few) worked along side her. The change of the studio name from "Diana Sanderson Studio" to "Diana Sanderson and Associates" was done to reflect their contributions. To this day, the Silk Weaving Studio remains a world of colours and a place of collaborations. |

Online Collection
Our current online collection was curated by Kim McKenna, who is also driven by colour.
Kim offers spinning workshops and lectures on the arts of spinning and dyeing at Claddagh Fibre Arts.

CHI's creations - designer jewelry & objets d'art

|
In this newsletter, we are featuring the jewelry of another talented local artist, Chi Cheng Lee. Chi draws her inspiration from the natural coastal wonders that surrounds her studio on the Vancouver's North Shore. Her creations also reflect a lifetime of cross-cultural experience and exposure to different design languages. A wide variety of Chi's jewelry is currently available at the studio.

Years ago, an artistic collaboration between Diana Sanderson and Ed Pretty sparked the creation of these pin sets for the studio. Ed turns the rings and pins from fiddleback maple before dyeing them to complement our weaving. In stock: blue, green, red and undyed. Check out Ed's website for a wealth of information.
