Special Student News - Parent Opportunity

Dear Parents,

I wanted to take a minute to remind you of a wonderful opportunity that is happening in just over an hour. Tonight and next Wednesday (in the Worship Center @ 6:30pm), we will be showing the documentary film called In His Image | Delighting in God's Plan For Gender and Sexuality.

The sad truth is that our world is changing rapidly, especially when it comes to these topics.  Our students are living in unprecedented times of confusion in our culture. Many may have friends or know of people who are questioning or exploring options outside of God’s design for their bodies. If that's not the case yet, we all know that they are being challenged with unbiblical ideas in these areas every day if they are in public school, or even just watching TV.

At Fellowship, we would like to come alongside you in educating and equipping you and your students for the days we are living in. With that in mind, I would highly recommend that you come and watch the documentary. It is extremely well made and offers wonderful help and insight for engaging with your teens on these topics.

Additionally, I am considering organizing a special showing of the film in the new year (not at ALIVE) for high school students, and those whose parents think they are mature enough to see it. Parents would be encouraged to come with their student to view it together. Similar to next week at church, a Q&A time would follow the showing to help answer questions. By attending tonight and next week, you would be able to easily decide if your student is ready for such a discussion.

Hurting people in our culture are asking: Can I be gay and be a Christian? What if I genuinely feel trapped in the wrong body? Did God make me this way? Is change even possible? Through powerful personal testimonies, careful Bible teaching, and scientific evidence, IN HIS IMAGE will equip the church to respond to these questions from a biblical perspective in truth, compassion, and clarity. Join us both nights to gain an understanding of God's design and how to interact with those in our midst who need the freedom offered in the gospel through Christ Jesus. We will also have Q&A and a discussion time. Mature themes: Appropriate for parents, educators, counselors, and adults.
