Dear Emmaus Chorale Singers:
I hope you all are still basking in the afterglow of your Thanksgiving holiday, and not yet feeling the pressure Christmas can sometimes bring. Before we do get into those hectic days of preparation, I hope you’ll be able to join us on Monday, December 13 at 7 pm for a Zoom carol sing.
This coming weekend is when we normally would have had our Christmas concert, and it’s so sad that we now have missed two years of those magical times. Times we won’t get back.
Remember the words we sang a few years ago? “…Haul out the holly…for we need a little Christmas…” I’ve put candles at the window and spiced up the fruitcake! Let’s sing some carols at Cindy’s spinet, right this very minute! Janet has grown a little leaner [good for her!!], and we’re all a little older. We need a little music, need a little laughter, need a little singing ringing through the rafter!
We’re not distributing the lyrics this time. As we’ll be muted – except for Cindy’s playing – it really doesn’t matter which words you sing, so just sing your favorite verses (harmonies and descants too)!
I’ve heard from two women who may be joining us when we resume in March, and both are going to try to attend the Zoom. Yeaaa! We still need tenors!
And the Leadership Team will be looking for additional volunteers in 2022 to help recruit new singers, meet & greet, get out the publicity that we are back, find sponsors and prep for the concert. Many hands make light work…& make it more fun!
We especially need to find a Treasurer! We don’t need a CPA, just someone to track our incoming dues, donations, and sponsorships, and pay the bills for musicians, music, printing, and publicity. The Treasurer role needs to be separated from the Administrative Director’s role; we need checks and balances, or I might go on a wild spending spree!!
If you would like to volunteer for the Leadership Team, we have - or can create - a spot for you! Tell us how you’d like to help. This is YOUR chorale! Off-spring, spouses, significant others & partners can volunteer too.
Looking forward to seeing you on the Zoom! If you can’t make it, I send my warmest wishes for a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy 2022.
Lynda
