Awards for two Newton schools

Congratulations to Hope Academy and Wargrave House and College, who were both winners at this year's Educate Awards.

Both were recognised for their extraordinary commitment to their pupils during the various lockdowns of the past year, and the challenges of remote learning. Hope Academy won the Outstanding Commitment to Sport & Physical Activity in Secondary School title, whilst Wargrave House School & College took home the Community Partnership Award.

With competition from right across the region, being shortlisted and winning was a fantastic achievement.

Gardening tip of the week:
Plant tulip bulbs for spring

Whilst many spring bulbs, like daffodils, muscari and crocuses, can be planted from September onwards, tulips should not be planted until now, in November. So if you'd like a lovely display around Easter next year, now's the time to get out in the garden and plant up your choice of tulip bulbs. Don't worry if you haven't planted your other spring bulbs yet - it's not too late. Wait for a dry day and get them all planted up. You'll thank yourself in spring!
