The Central Functions committee lies at the heart of PEARC’s organization, fulfilling roles in finance; evaluations; communications; and diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as advisor and liaison roles.

Central functions include tasks such as overseeing the conference’s finances, promoting and developing marketing materials and media releases, developing and administering surveys to evaluate past conferences, improving under-representation at the conference, and ensuring that diverse perspectives are embraced in the conference proceedings.

The Conference Operations committee is the source for PEARC’s agenda and overall conference organization, exhibitor engagement and the exhibitor prospectus, as well as network and security efforts.

The Conference Operations committee is also responsible for ensuring all event daily logistics are planned accordingly; assembling the exhibit that takes place alongside the main conference program; making sure that exhibitors’ display, networking and power requirements are appropriately supported; and planning and implementation of the on-site networking infrastructure necessary to support the conference.

Technical Programming Chair and Co-Chairs:

The Technical Programming Chair and Co-Chairs is a leadership trio dedicated to ensuring that a well-balanced, high-quality program is organized and presented at the conference. They are responsible for handling the Call for Participation through the selection and review of every submission as well as assisting in the scheduling of session rooms and helping with local arrangements for the program. They help manage and organize the Technical Programming Committee Chairs efforts which you can find out more about below.

Technical Programming Committee Chairs:

The Technical Programming Committee Chairs report to the Technical Programming Chair and Co-Chairs. This committee includes Tutorials, Workshops, PEARC Interact!, Panels, Birds of a Feather, Posters, Tracks - including Systems and Systems Software and Applications, and Workforce Development. Each of these chairs are responsible for a uniquely defined mission including planning, selection process, and implementation of the annual conference programming of their respective programs.

Note: For 2022, the PEARC Visualization Showcase is reimagined as PEARC Interact! to meet the opportunities presented by new technologies and expectations on how audiences can and should visualize, interact with, and understand data. Rather than the traditional videos of past years, PEARC22 Interact! seeks submissions of interactive, online data presentations in a variety of formats.

The Technical Programming Track Chairs committee is responsible for the call for papers, ensuring that the call contains the appropriate topics aligned with the software, applications, and systems tracks. Track Chairs screens each proposal submission to ensure it both fits into one of the appropriate tracks and follows ACM standards.

The Track Chairs committee is also responsible for building a team of expert reviewers, monitoring the progress and consistency of reviews in each track, and re-assigning reviewers if needed. At the end of the review process, Track Chairs communicates its decisions about accepted and rejected papers.

The Student Programs committee is in charge of connecting mentors and mentees at the conference, enabling students to meet with representatives from the Exhibitor’s Program, and providing networking opportunities for students during the conference.

PEARC aims to provide a supportive environment in which students can gain new knowledge about research computing, share their enthusiasm with Exhibitor’s Program representatives, and support a variety of conference activities.
