InMotion Network Board Recruitment

We are currently recruiting for our InMotion Board of Directors. If you or someone you know is interested in supporting girls and women in Alberta to be physical active, please click here for more information on how to apply.

Physical Activity and Leadership Committee

The InMotion Network is looking for 2-3 new committee members for our Physical Activity and Leadership Committee. This committee is responsible for:

  • Adjudication, policy and procedures for our Contribution Programs (Take the Lead, Go Girl, Girls in Motion, Women in Motion)

  • Resources and Information to support organizations to provide physical activity and sport opportunities for girls and women

The committee meets at minimum every 2 months for 1 hour. Additional input and feedback may be required outside of these meetings.

InMotion Network is undergoing the development of a new strategic plan and would like to hear from our stakeholders as we plan for future years. Please take a moment to fill out this brief survey as we work to get more girls and women active in physical activity and sport in Alberta. The survey will close on January 21, 2022.

Girls In Motion, Women In Motion and Go Girl

Sturgeon County Go Girl

Sturgeon County Go Girl - Sturgeon County Family Community Support Services is hosting a Go Girl March 29 at the Edmonton Garrison Fitness Centre.
The girls will be trying new physical activities and sports such as Kick-boxing; Cross-Fit (modified); Rock Climbing, Curling, Rugby and Baseball. Sturgeon County plans to provide bussing from rural parts of the County to eliminate barriers of transportation to the Garrison Fitness Centre. The County will also provide support to any girls who need additional financial assistance to participate.

Learn to Twirl Program

Alberta Baton has begun hosting an additional twelve week Girls in Motion project in Edmonton. A six week project was completed in the fall. Baton twirling is an excellent opportunity to get active and provides recreation and a chance to meet new friends in the community. If the group sticks together, and are successful they may be able to form the first club in Edmonton. All participants received a free baton!

Girls On The Move! Medicine Hat

Girls On The Move - Ever Active Schools (Be Fit for Life Medicine Hat) is hosting our Girls in Motion program. The girls will be physically active in an environment that is positive, barrier-free and exposes the girls to new activities. it will be held at the Family Leisure Centre in Medicine Hat. There are a number of partnership to make this project happing and it will be free for the girls to participate. The project is 8 weeks starting March 10th. Targeted to girls age 7 and up and designed to provide access to sport and physical activities who may not have the opportunity. Skill competence and confidence are gained through game

SAGE - Edmonton

Zumba Gold Fitness - One of the most successful and popular projects hosted. The project provides an opportunity for older women to come together in an safe and welcoming online space from their homes for a fun and engaging social and physical activity connection. It includes music, dance and is easily adaptable for all physical abilities and fitness levels. The project leaders are encouraging access with other community organizations including group homes, Winnifred Steward Association and Kiwanis Lodge. This project has been running online throughout Covid-19.

Karate Alberta - Mandi Rabeau & Geraldine Young
Geraldine Young is enhancing her national level license and will become a world class referee.
Mandi Rabeau will receive support for officials training at the national level. Both women have volunteered as coaches and officials for many years. Congratulations!

Calgary Canoe Club - Ormadee Baxter-lovo
Ormadee will be taking part in a 2-week paddling clinic by paddling guru and world champion coach, Imre Kemecsey, in January 2022. This initiative promotes women and women of colour in top coaching positions from grass-roots, through club-level to National level. Ormadee will also be mentoring other young women paddlers to become coaches and helping the club ensure equity and development.
