Protecting the Panes

We’ve been talking about it for awhile and now we’re on the list! The two big stain glass windows that face 7th Street are about to get some protection. We have paid a deposit to a company out of Minnesota to come down and do the work and help protect them from weather, 7th street, and the ash trees. The estimated cost will be $16,000.

If you would like to contribute to this project, there are “stain glass” envelopes in the back of the church, painted by our own Sophia Downs. If you would like to mail your donation, please be sure to put “stain glass” in the  memo line. As of November 21, we have $5,824!!

Thank you in advance for your support and don’t panic when the scaffolding goes up — it’s a good thing!

Why not share your Christmas with needy children in our community? This year we will again support the Marine Corp Reserves Toys for Tots program.

Your toy donations should be new, in unopened packages and unwrapped. Gifts are needed for children between the ages of infant to 14 years and should not exceed $30.00.

Cartons and suggested toy lists have been placed in the back of the church. Toy list is also below. The cartons will be collected after services on Sunday, December 5th.

Please contact David Nearpass (812-236-8792 / dwnearpass@yahoo.com) with any questions.

FARRINGTON GROVE CHORALE
COMMUNITY SERVICE OF
LESSONS AND CAROLS

After a year off, Lessons and Carols is back!

You are invited to enjoy this foretaste of the Christmas
season with the Farrington Grove Chorale, a chamber music
ensemble that involves several members of our church.

The traditional service of Lessons and Carols on
Sunday, December 12, at 4 pm here at St. Stephen’s.
The FGC will provide the music, interspersed with readings
by representatives of the academic, legal, youth,
medical, and faith professions.
Child care will be available, and a reception will follow the service.
There is no charge for admission.

The format of “Nine Lessons and Carols” was first presented
on Christmas Eve in 1880 in Cornwall, UK, and later became
associated with King’s College in Oxford. Adopted worldwide,
it has become a beloved tradition here at St. Stephens.
See you there!

You're also invited to attend the FGC's winter concert, which
will be part of the city's Miracle on 7th Street celebration.
The concert, which features some of the Lessons and Carols music,
plus secular holiday favorites.
The concert commences at 6 pm on on Friday, December 3,
at First Congregational Church on Ohio Boulevard downtown.

Point In Time Count Collection

It's time to start collecting winter clothing, coats and footwear for the annual Point In Time Count in January.

Please consider donating your clean, in good shape items. We will also accept new thick socks, stocking caps and insulated mittens or gloves.

The actual count in January will probably not be the same as in years past and we will not be in charge of the shelter at the river. But, volunteers will still be needed the day of the count. More info to come as we receive it.

Please contact Sandy Bush or Deby Veach for more information.

Manna From Seven is still distributing food and some hygiene items on Fridays. They are still providing laundry services and putting food in our blessing box.

If you can help with this ministry, please make checks payable to Manna from Seven, Inc and mail to their treasurer: Mike Cahill, 704 Vista Glen Drive, Terre Haute IN 47803. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Susan Seitz at
812.243.4241. Thank you!
