Hi Everyone

It is hard to believe that the year is finally coming to an end, and what a year it has been. I know that while the festive season is one of my favourite times of the year, for many it can be challenging. This year, and especially for those who have lost loved ones during the Pandemic it would be particularly difficult, and my heart goes out to those people.

I would suggest that in order to reduce any anxiety and stress at this time of year, try to maintain a routine in your day. For me, I tend to focus on what’s important - my loved ones, my health, and the small moments that bring me joy each day. Try if you can to prioritise at least 30 minutes for yourself each day and make sure it includes some form of exercise, it will ensure that your mind and body are prepared for festivities, food, and family gatherings.

For those of you who might not know, Dr Noel Bairey Merz has been a founding member of Her Heart. She is an amazing woman who has championed women’s heart health globally and for many years. I encourage you to take the time to listen to her TED talk. Also, one of my favourite podcasts is the Melissa Ambrosini Show, she covers great topics with equally impressive speakers.

Before I close, I would like to say and big thank you to you - our community. I am enormously grateful for the endless support from you, our dedicated staff, our Board and advisers plus volunteers.

With all good wishes during this holiday season and I hope that 2022 brings you good health and happiness.

Until next time,
Linda

What I'm Reading
While this has only just been released, I am reading Lisa’s book. It promises to be an incredibly honest, informative, and relatable book about life. It depicts her successes and doesn’t shy away from the failures and heartbreak that occurred within her life. Her memoir is told with grace and humility, and I am thoroughly enjoying it!

I have been a fan of Melissa's for a while now, and enjoy her podcast. I always feel like I have learned something valuable after each episode. Her zest for life, soothing voice and positive energy never fails to uplift me. She’s an engaging interviewer, covers interesting topics with some great guests.

What I'm watching
This great TED talk by Dr Noel Bairey Merz who is a global pioneer of women’s heart health and preventative cardiology. While it’s been nearly 10 years since the release of her talk it gives a great snapshot of what we do and don’t know about women’s heart health.

Who I'm following
I have been following Dr Mark Hyman for a while now, he’s an expert in the field of Functional Medicine (& a practicing physician) plus he is also a New York Times bestselling author on health and wellbeing. If you are looking at ways to eat better during the holiday season - then check him out, as he advocates for food as a therapeutic tool.

Quotes I live by
I think this quote is fabulous, if you tend to worry about things then there’s lots of things that you can do. Mindfulness is one but also being pragmatic about recycling the same information, as Arianna says here - we are all in control of our own thoughts and sometimes we just need to change the channel!
