Happy Thanksgiving from Winter Green Farm!

By Chelsea on Nov 24, 2021 01:34 pm

Well, the 2021 CSA season is over, and the holidays are upon us. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, and we hope you’re all able to spend a wonderful day surrounded by loved ones and enjoying delicious food. We’re grateful you invited us along on your food journey this year, and we wish you all the best in during the holiday season!

Special announcements:

We’re done at the King Market in Portland! We’d like to take a moment to thank our awesome staff at the King Market, as well as all of our members and patrons. You made Sundays fun and we appreciate your support throughout the season. It means a lot to us.

If you’re still looking for fresh veggies in the off-season (like I am), rest assured, you can still find us at the local farmers markets until the week before Christmas! We will continue to be at the Hollywood Market in Portland and the Holiday Farmers Market in Eugene (still downtown) on Saturdays. We’d love to see you and help with your veggie needs in any way we can!

Next season sign-ups are on their way!

With the 2022 CSA season only half a year away, we’re working hard to get our new system implemented. We will be taking orders exclusively through the website for next year, which will help us manage the number of shares for each of our programs. There may be a few changes for next season as our business is always growing and changing. We strive to be the best we can be, but we hope to have a thorough, seamless system for next season (fingers crossed).

Though we haven’t opened them yet, we will be giving all our current members a chance to sign up for next season before we open it up to the public. I know a number of you have inquired about next year, so rest assured, we will give you first shot when we’ve got the new system up and running. Sign-ups will open in three waves, so keep an eye on the emails in the next few weeks for more information and directions. We’d love for you to join us next year!

What We’re Making this Weekend:

With Thanksgiving tomorrow and a long weekend ahead with lots of extra food, I thought I’d take the time to post a few recipes for the holidays. Enjoy!

  • Done with Thanksgiving food, but need to use up that turkey? This Turkey Tetrazzini is the perfect meal to make.
  • What’s Thanksgiving without stuffing? There are so many variations to choose from, but this Sausage and Herb Stuffing might just hit the spot.

Thank you for making my first season wonderful!

When I first started working at the farm, I didn’t know what to expect. I’d never worked on a farm before and only knew about vegetables what I’d learned in the grocery store. But as workplaces go, Winter Green Farm is a step above the rest, and all of you have made my first season here amazing. I so appreciate how kind, patient, and understanding you’ve been as I navigated new waters and learned how to coordinate the CSA. The conversations I’ve had with many of you were so sweet and fun, and I look forward to many more seasons with the farm. Thank you for being such a great addition to my new adventure!

This season was amazing, and we’re sad to see it end, but we’re so excited for next year (already!), and can’t wait to do it all over again. Thank you so much for allowing us to tag along on your food journey this year. It’s been a blast. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

Many blessings,

Chelsea and your Winter Green farmers
