 Ubuntu Rugby Practice Coaching Clinic

The Sport for Social Change Network in partnership with Top Star Sport Management organized the very first Ubuntu Rugby Practice Coaching Clinic at Peelton Village in the Eastern Cape in the month of November as a way to equip coaches and athletes with the skills and information to enable active involvement of all community people as proud ambassadors of the game, who will pride themselves on upholding the code of conduct of the rugby game by promoting its core values which are discipline, respect, integrity, passion and solidarity during rugby involvement, practice and training.
Lungelo Payi, Bohlale Modiba and Dimakatso Molete as the facilitators of the three days Clinic on the 11th, 12th and 13th of November 2021 covering the rugby coaching, rugby safety, laws, and regulations, and rugby core values.
Rugby was created in the mid nineteenth century as a minor departure from football. It is a group activity where every player can truly go hard and fast. Rugby is a 15-a-side group activity. The object of the game is to ground the ball behind the adversary's attempt line, into what is known as the in-objective region. Rugby is played both with the ball close by and by kicking the ball. Be that as it may, when the ball is being conveyed close by it must be thrown or given off in reverse. This is on the grounds that it is the advancement of the player and not the ball that is definitive in this game. That is one contrast among rugby and American football, albeit the two are frequently confounded among laypeople.
Day1: Coaches training and development.
  • SSCN introduction
  • Rugby laws and regulations
  • World rugby introduction to coaching
  • Online rugby safety
  • Rugby for social change
Day2: Active Involvement.
  • Why Sports for Social Change?
  • Leadership and motivation
  • Food security
  • Rugby coaching clinic for 200 community children
  • Participation certificate ceremony
  • Competition draw
Day3: Rugby World Cup for Social Change #RUGBYWC2023STARSHERE
  • Males World Cup Rugby Tournament
  • Male World Cup Finals
  • Females World Cup Tag Rugby Finals
  • Trophy and Closing Ceremony
The event was very successfully, as a result it reached 288 children and 18 coaches from the community.

Skateistan's new chapter

Skateistan relies on almost one hundred staff and volunteers worldwide. Our international headquarters are in Berlin, Germany and we have entities around the world supporting our fundraising efforts and raising awareness. Skateistan runs five programs within their Skate Schools for children aged 5-17: Outreach, Dropping In, Skate and Create, Back to School and Youth Leadership. These programs combine life-skills with fun, freedom, and creativity to help create leaders for a better world. Skateistan also runs The Goodpush Alliance, a global platform which supports other social skateboarding projects to develop and thrive.

In August 2021, skateistan suspended their programs in Afghanistan for the first time since 2009, when they first opened the doors of their Skate School in Kabul. For over a decade, thousands of children in Afghanistan had found a safe space at Skateistan, where they could play, learn, and dream. Now their future in Afghanistan is uncertain. This is a chance for them to begin A New Chapter. They want to rebuild, to expand and take the joy of skateboarding further afield. Their aim is to expand to 20 locations over the next year and reach 4,500 students each week. This is an ambitious goal, and we cannot do it alone.

Help by donating at
https://skateistan.org/a-new-chapter#donate

Skateistan's new chapter will involve using a different, more flexible model from our previous Skate Schools so that we can reach more children, faster. They aim to be in 20 locations reaching up to 4,500 students every week by the end of 2022. The Skateistan story has changed but it will carry on.
