SPORT-AID DEVELOPMENT TRUST- Girls Money Savvy Initiative through Football workshop

Sport-Aid Development Trust is a Non- profit Organization registered in 2013 in Lusaka Zambia. Through the membership of Street Football World Network, the organization can implement Girl’s empowerment program supported by GIZ that uses Football 3 concept to empower the girl.

Girls Money Savvy through Football workshop, with girls underwent training in financial literacy and entrepreneurship, and then they were given start-up capital for them to engage in small businesses.
Through the workshop the girls have become role models and peer mentors to their peers whom they are reaching through Girls Money Savvy Through Football sessions. This project is being supported by Beyond Sport and Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. The main objective of the program and the workshop is to:

• Improve girls’ self-esteem, confidence, and assertiveness.
• Develop girls /young women entrepreneurships leadership and employability skills.
• To get investment capital into the hands of girls/young women entrepreneurs.
• Building mentors and entrepreneurship that will influence positive values and be a hope for the world.

The project is part of the collective impact on gender equality together with 3 other organizations in east Africa namely, PAMOJA, Soccer without Border and Moving Goal Post. As a results of this project Girls who are in this program, are not dropping out of school simply because, they are able to buy sanitary pads, grocery and pay for their school fees that keep them out of school as they are now able to use profits, they are making to meet these needs by 2022. The project is contributing to gender equality and SDG number 5 as more girls and young women are being empowered and become financially independent by 2022.

Skateistan's new chapter

Skateistan relies on almost one hundred staff and volunteers worldwide. Our international headquarters are in Berlin, Germany and we have entities around the world supporting our fundraising efforts and raising awareness. Skateistan runs five programs within their Skate Schools for children aged 5-17: Outreach, Dropping In, Skate and Create, Back to School and Youth Leadership. These programs combine life-skills with fun, freedom, and creativity to help create leaders for a better world. Skateistan also runs The Goodpush Alliance, a global platform which supports other social skateboarding projects to develop and thrive.

In August 2021, skateistan suspended their programs in Afghanistan for the first time since 2009, when they first opened the doors of their Skate School in Kabul. For over a decade, thousands of children in Afghanistan had found a safe space at Skateistan, where they could play, learn, and dream. Now their future in Afghanistan is uncertain. This is a chance for them to begin A New Chapter. They want to rebuild, to expand and take the joy of skateboarding further afield. Their aim is to expand to 20 locations over the next year and reach 4,500 students each week. This is an ambitious goal, and we cannot do it alone.

Skateistan's new chapter will involve using a different, more flexible model from our previous Skate Schools so that we can reach more children, faster. They aim to be in 20 locations reaching up to 4,500 students every week by the end of 2022. The Skateistan story has changed but it will carry on.

Youth in Development Fellowship 2022

Summary: Applications are open for the Youth in Development Fellowship 2022. The Youth in Development Fellowship provides emerging civic leaders and social entrepreneurs with the skills and tools to lead social change initiatives effectively.

Details: Most of the Alumni of this program have gone ahead to create viable and highly impactful social ventures and programs that are transforming their communities’ social and economic landscapes. YID Fellows engage in a 6-month professional development program. In a transformative learning experience, fellows will hone their leadership skills and lead sustainable social change. These young leaders would have the unique opportunity to learn directly from social change leaders with exceptional track records and academics worldwide.
Participants would become a part of the Impact Toolbox formidable network of social change leaders. At the end of the fellowship, fellows will develop action plans and social venture idea proposals that reflect what they have learned. Fellows will also enjoy complimentary access to online courses, exclusive mentorship and one-on-one strategy sessions, connection to peer collaborators from other parts of the world, the opportunity to pitch for some small amount of seed funding and exclusive networking opportunities with funders and investors.

• Demonstrate interest in civic leadership and career in the social sector;
• Have an idea or initiative for social change;
• Be between the ages of 18-30 on or before the application deadline;
• Be a citizen of an African country and must reside and work on the continent;
• Be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English;
• Be available to complete all the weekly activities included in the six months duration of the fellowship.

• Stage One: Application Submission & Review: Applicants are invited to submit applications. Successful applicants will be selected to progress to the next step on merit based on their passion and demonstrated interest in civic leadership and social entrepreneurship.
• Stage Two: Social Entrepreneurship & Strategy Course: Applicants selected to progress to stage two will participate in strategic planning and social entrepreneurship course. During this course, you will develop and submit your theory of change, strategic plan and business model. You will receive a course completion certificate and invitation to progress to the third phase based on the quality of your submissions.
• Stage Three: 3-Day Venture Creation Boot Camp: They will invite applicants that progress to the third stage to attend a three-day boot camp hosted onsite or online by our local partners and community ambassadors. During the boot camp, you will learn about leadership, business planning, customer discovery and achieving product-market fit. After the boot camp, you will submit a venture business model and a sketch of your MVP. You will receive a certificate, and successful participants will become Fellows.
• Stage Four: Finalist Announcement & 6-Month Fellowship: YID Fellows will be announced, profiled on the YID websites and widely celebrated. They will invite them to participate in an intensive six-month fellowship, including training on grant writing, monitoring and evaluation, financial modelling, storytelling and marketing, positioning for investments, policy advocacy & political participation. Fellows will also enjoy all the highlighted fellowship benefits.
