➜ Google Sheets Tip #181: Shortcuts you should use
Here is your Google Sheets tip, which you can think of as your Monday morning espresso, in spreadsheet form.
One of the best ways to be more efficient in Google Sheets is to learn a few basic shortcuts for quickly selecting data.
I remember how awkward it felt when I learned these shortcuts, and how it was initially slower than just using the mouse to highlight the data.
But after a few days, once the key combinations became familiar, it was significantly quicker than using the mouse. For example, these shortcuts allow me to select data for formulas without my hands leaving the keyboard, which is much quicker than grabbing the mouse.
If you don't already use these shortcuts, then I'd highly recommend them!
1) Move quickly to the last non-blank cell in a row or column:
PC/Chromebook: Ctrl + ⬆⬇⬅➡
Mac: ⌘ + ⬆⬇⬅➡
2) Highlight data to the last non-blank cell in a row or column:
PC/Chromebook: Ctrl + Shift + ⬆⬇⬅➡
Mac: ⌘ + Shift + ⬆⬇⬅➡
3) Highlight data, moving manually from cell to cell:
PC/Chromebook/Mac: Shift + ⬆⬇⬅➡
4) Highlight the whole dataset:
PC/Chromebook: Ctrl + A
Mac: Cmd + A
Press it again selects the whole Sheet.
5) Highlight a column:
PC/Chromebook/Mac: Ctrl + Space Bar
6) Highlight a row:
PC/Chromebook/Mac: Shift + Space Bar
And here are these 6 shortcuts in action:

Have a great week!

P.S. Something I think about a lot: how to use my brief time on planet Earth wisely. Last week I read about the term time billionaire, which is an interesting way to think about this. Even the richest dollar billionaire has a fixed, and dwindling, "time bank account".
