Special Prayer by Rev. Michael J. Pearl, New Day Baptist Church

Gracious Father, While this year has been hard for many, help us all to cherish this Thanksgiving Day. We are thankful and appreciative of your life-changing grace and kindest mercies that are new every morning. We are grateful for the smallest of blessings you consistently bestow upon us and we take none of them for granted.

The many challenges we have faced this year have been overwhelming and we cannot ignore the fact that it has been difficult. But for today especially, we remember that you are a God who loves us, cares for us, heals us, and forgives us. In the midst of our stress under these circumstances, please give us your peace that surpasses all understanding. In the heartache of division, please give us unified hearts, remembering that we truly are better and stronger together as family, friends, and neighbors. Where there has been loss, fill that void with your unyielding love that knows no boundaries. Continue to provide us with strength to endure the adversity we face; understanding that with you, all things are possible. Cause our hearts, today of all days, not to be burdened with what we do not have, but instead to be grateful for all that we do have as we give thanks for all you are doing in our lives for our good and for your glory.

Most of all, we thank you for the best gift of Jesus Christ who makes eternal life and our relationship with you possible.

In His precious and powerful name we pray all these things. Amen.
