We are pleased to provide you with OFC’s 2021/2022 liturgical calendar and catechist prayer card for use in all your catechetical sessions which can be downloaded here.
(Please note that the catechist prayer card will be uploaded in the folder as soon as it is available).
In anticipation that for the catechetical year 2022, there will be opportunities for having both face-to-face and online catechesis, you may:
i) download and print for face-to-face catechesis and/or
ii) include an A4 copy together with a journal for each candidate and/or
iii) include a soft copy in your slides for online catechesis and/or
iv) place orders with OFC for bulk printing by 12 December 2021
We would like to take the opportunity to encourage catechetical teams to arrange for sufficient face-to-face catechetical sessions across all levels, where feasible, given the current guidelines mandated by MCCY and the parish resources available. This is in view that:

‘catechesis cannot be carried out solely by using digital tools, but by offering spaces for experience of faith’,

providing opportunities for face-to-face catechesis helps us ‘to avoid a virtualisation of catechesis which threatens to make the catechetical action weak and ineffectual’.

Recommended Practices in the Catechetical Space
We recommend that catechists gather together for prayer half an hour before their catechetical sessions in order to prepare themselves spiritually as Stewards of the Mystery. They can say the prayer found on the catechist prayer cards so we recommend that every catechist should have a copy.
We recommend that every catechetical space should have a liturgical calendar AND catechists should use it at the beginning of every session to help the young people locate themselves in the liturgical year.
Besides the large A2 poster to be used for face-to-face settings, we are offering A4 sized liturgical calendars that you may wish to give out to each candidate so he/she can refer to it every week.
