Read 2 Peter 3:1-18

v 9.  The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

To follow through a certain word and see how it is used is one of the ways in which it is possible to study the Bible. Try it for yourself today as we look at the use of this one word Repent. Repentance is a conscious act of turning from sin to follow God’s pathway. What might it mean for you?

The way back to GodThen Hezekiah humbled himself and repented of his pride, as did the people of Jerusalem. So the Lord’s anger did not fall on them during Hezekiah’s lifetime.  (2 Chronicles 32:26)

In the preaching of John the Baptist.  “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near”   (Matthew 3:2)

In Jesus’ preaching. From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”  (Matthew 4:17)

Peter’s preaching at Pentecost.  Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, (Acts 2:38)

Paul’s preaching in Athens.  God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him.  (Acts 17:30)
