November Updates

Greetings,

We hope you are well. We just finished our annual planning retreat, and are excited to share with you our plans for future work in India. In a nutshell, we plan to secure further small-scale corporate commitments and partner with Indian government institutions, such as the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.

Our main bottleneck in this expansion, and it is a significant one, is improving our welfare standards. After 6 months of working with farmers we have helped over 200,000 fishes, but based on the data we’re collecting our standards do not appear to be as impactful as we intend. Thus, we will spend much of 2022 improving our welfare standards—before attempting to scale to the level of millions of fishes, it's important to us to get this right.

Finally, I want to make a humble request: All of this work costs money. And while we don't ask for donations too frequently, the support of many generous people like you is what enables all of it.

We hope you'll consider looking at our past achievements and future plans more closely (see below!), and donate if you believe they are worth you supporting.

We are grateful for however you support our work, financial or otherwise. Have a great weekend,

Double Your Donation on Giving Tuesday

If you are planning to donate, you may want to do so on Giving Tuesday (November 30, 2021)! Facebook is matching up to 100% of your donation, though matching funds will almost certainly run out within seconds. For those readers who are good with tech and quick on a mouse, this is likely one of the most impactful time to donate all year—see how to participate here.

If you prefer to donate to FWI now, or on Tuesday at a more leisurely pace, you can give here. Thank you again for considering helping us help fish.
