Apologies for getting the timing wrong in my last message, corrected below. As before, the preparation will start at 2pm on Friday next week (3rd December), but the hedge tree planting will be after school at 3pm, with tea and biscuits afterwards.

All the best,
Eddie

------------------------------------

Dear All,

Earlier this month we spent a morning around (and in) the pond. It is much tidier now and we can see the water! We deliberately left the clippings from the pond itself for any creatures to crawl back, see below. We have received some positive comments about our efforts already. Pictures are on the website:

Next week we have an event LEAP has been asked to join in and help with. On Friday 3rd December, from 2pm until 4pm, we will join the Parish Council and Ewhurst Infants School Governors in preparing the ground for the school children to plant a hedge at __3pm__. The hedge will be in the gaps in the trees between the pond (where we were working earlier this month) and the parish cemetery. There will be tea and biscuits afterwards. We will meet in the car park opposite the Village Hall.

The hedge will be about 5m-10m long with a staggered double row of trees each around 50cm apart with 40cm between the two rows. The trees are small bare-rooted whips and so the rows should be about a spade or so deep. Please come if you can, and bring a spade and gloves. Some cutting back of bramble may be necessary too, we have some LEAP tools that you could borrow. Joanna will be there to organise us all.

The following morning (Saturday 4th) at 10am we will be back by the cemetery and Village Hall, to tidy the hedge planting ground. This should not take long, so we can also take the pond clippings to the compost heap, and if there is time fill the last of the planters by the Village Hall itself. Please bring spades, forks and wheelbarrows. We should finish by midday.

Please take a look at the Neighbourhood Plan, now in its final stages. Ewhurst LEAP is mentioned a number of times, and there is a picture of the Village Hall with the new planters we built. If you have any comments on the plan please do so via the comment forms at the Waverley website. The plan can be viewed and downloaded from here:

All the best,
Eddie
