It is appropriate we begin by recording the very sad news that Sir Martin Wood passed away on November 23. The founder of Oxford Instruments, Sir Martin was responsible in many ways for the enterprise culture in Oxford, and certainly the exceptional Cryogenic Community around it. That community, and arguably this newsletter, might not have existed without him. A generous, inspirational pioneer.

Last month’s B Cryo clearly hit the spot, with Steve Harrison, now at GKN Aerospace, responding and drawing attention to the collaborative H2Gear Programme, pushing hydrogen technology to decarbonise aerospace. Great to have such prominent followers of B Cryo – Power to you Steve ! (He may be recruiting for more Cryogenic People by the way …)

And what a nice testament to our 100th issue, a milestone which may be cause for a glass to be raised in some places. It’s an opportunity for us to thank most sincerely, the British Cryogenics Council for their support from Day One (Professor Harry Jones & Dr Beth Evans as successive Chairs) and Appletree Marketing who have delivered month after month, despite every flavour of exasperation and delay known to newsletters. Cheers Everyone !
Brought to you by the B Cryo Team
