Have you seen the new Christmas Tree Festival at York Minster? 

We went to the opening evening last week and it’s just so lovely & Festive.. there’s a little Christmas ‘Village’ next to it too so you can enjoy a refreshment (mulled wine is available as well as hot chocolates) wandering among the trees.

Open until 6th January 2022. From 10am – 7pm daily.

The new festival is in a festive marquee by the South Piazza and features over 30 trees decorated by local businesses, schools and charities.

You can VOTE FOR YOUR FAVOURITE HERE

You can also visit the activity marquee to write your own Christmas message on a tag which will be added to a tree at the festival, or inside the cathedral’s East End.

The festival will run daily until 6th January (except Christmas Day) and admission is free although donations are encouraged. No pre-booking required.

Experience Christmas Trail

4 December 2021 – 6 January 2020.
TIME: Daily when the building is open for sight-seeing.

Discover more about the Christmas story by exploring six activity stops hidden around the Minster.

Families can follow a special trail with items to look at, touch, smell and discuss at each point.

Free with admission; collect your family trail from the admission desks. Check website for York Minster’s general opening hours.

DON’T FORGET: York Resident can visit the Minster for FREE all year round. Pre-booking is still required.

Experience our first Christmas Tree Festival set in the cathedral’s grounds with the medieval Minster as its backdrop.

The new festival will take place in a festive marquee by the South Piazza and feature trees decorated by local businesses, schools and charities.

See around 40 trees decorated to individual themes, vote for your favourite tree in our ‘best dressed tree’ competition and visit our activity marquee to write your own Christmas message on a tag which will be added to a tree at the festival, or inside the cathedral’s East End.

The festival will run daily from 18 November to 6 January (except Christmas Day) and admission is free although donations are encouraged. No pre-booking required.

 

This ever popular annual concert will take place in the stunning Nave of York Minster.

In addition to traditional choral items old and new, there will be festive music performed by the Handbell Ringers of the Chapter House Choir – a uniquely Christmassy combination in the perfect candlelit setting!
