Greetings! Are you ready for something fun today?
Today, I will be sharing with you five fun facts about my next picture book Hilda & Richie's Wizard. It will deal both with the book itself, the Kickstarter and some other items. And you are getting an exclusive inside look before anyone else does.
So let's get this show on the road.
First, the goal for this Kickstarter (launching on January 5, 2022) is going to be lower than the last one. The final goal will be US$2,000 to $2,500. Why is this goal lower? Well...it took some effort (and some generous donors) to get to the $3,000 goal last time. But don't worry - this goal is attainable. In addition to putting more of my own money into this work, we also have some money made off the sales of the first Hilda & Richie book. So that will go into printing the next book.
Second, I have a special treat to share during the Kickstarter. As a reward for backers AND to help generate interest in the Hilda & Richie books, I will be releasing pages of an e-book called "Meet Hilda & Richie". It's not really a traditional story like the first two Hilda & Richie books. It's a guide that tells about the characters and reveals information not included in the books (so far). I'm going to feature Hilda and Richie's last names, their home, the country they live in and a few other things. Pages will be available to Kickstarter backers as milestone bonuses. Plus sometime later next year, the whole book will be shared for free to help promote Hilda & Richie.
Third, YouTube will play a key part in promoting both Hilda & Richie's Wizard as well as its Kickstarter. For the past few months, I've been sharing videos of Hilda & Richie art being drawn. In the 30 days before, I will be posting videos counting down to the launch of the Kickstarter. And all through the event, more videos promoting Hilda & Richie's Wizard will get posted to YouTube.
Fourth is about the book itself. Hilda will have less of a role in this book. She does appear at the start and the end as her actions set the plot in motion. But most of the screen time will be Richie and the titular wizard.
But don't fret. The fifth and final fact about the book is that it's not the last of our two fox friends. A THIRD BOOK is coming out in 2023 titled Hilda & Richie's Sandwich. Hilda will once more take center stage along with her ward Richie. The only thing I'll reveal right now? We are going to meet not one but TWO of Hilda's relatives.
I've taken up enough time. I have to get back to work on the Kickstarter as the clock keeps ticking down.
