TO:
OUR COMMUNITY OF LAND TRUST CATALYSTS!

What does being at home feel like?  We know that stable and affordable housing keeps people safe and healthy.  In 2021, The Neighbourhood Land Trust (NLT) brought 36 at-risk affordable housing units into community ownership.  And in 2022 we will acquire an additional 82 single family homes and small buildings across the west end of Toronto, which we will preserve as permanently affordable rental housing!

You are an essential part of this success.  Government grants and financing help us secure these properties, but you are the catalyst that precipitate this funding by investing community equity in the land trust.  You are our neighbours, advocates, and our friends.  And with your continued support we are preparing to mark new ground in the new year.

Our campaign, Land Held TogetherA Place to Call Home, aims to secure new and recent property acquisitions by raising $250,000 by March 31, 2022.  These funds will support:

  •  In 2021 NLT purchased 22 Maynard with $2.6 million investment from impact investors.  In order to convert 22 Maynard Avenue to permanently affordable housing we need to raise $50,000 in community equity.
  • NLT is working to acquire a portfolio of 82 single family homes and small buildings to preserve them as permanently affordable housing.  In order to successfully complete this acquisition we need to raise $100,000 in community equity.

We are asking our community of land trust catalyzers (supporters, members and past donors) to help secure new and recent acquisitions.  With your support we can ensure our community-owned assets are operational, healthy, accessible, and energy efficient homes.  Our goal is to provide housing options so tenants can thrive and feel safe, and where community and cultural well-being is enhanced, nurtured and preserved.  The Land Held Together campaign is a step we can take together, towards this goal.

Please give generously.  And if you are unable to make a financial donation, there are other ways you can support us--  share the campaign on social media, ask your friends and family to donate, or talk about the importance of the community land trust model over your new year celebrations.

We know you care about affordable housing in Toronto.  Help us preserve affordable housing, ensure our strategic growth and the success of the Land Trust model and vision, by committing as a capital drive catalyst and giving the gift of home.
