Dear there,
My name is Roslyn. I was diagnosed with Frontal Lobe Dementia almost a year ago. But long before the diagnosis, I wasn't able to complete sentences, I was forgetting words and feeling frustrated, all the time. I never thought it was my brain. After a year of fearing the dementia label and spending a fortune to find the right resource, I found The Dementia Society. With them, I feel heard, and for me, this is really important.
Friend, we have to think and tell everyone out there that dementia is not a disgrace. Educating ourselves about dementia and breaking the stigma are the first steps to living well with the disease and creating an inclusive community for me and the 24,000 other people living with this disease in Ottawa and Renfrew County.
there, would you like to join me in learning more about dementia in January? January is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month in Canada. The Dementia Society wants to help us each increase our awareness about this disease, tend to our brain health, and encourage conversation about dementia. Together we can break the stigma, and ensure people in our region know about the resources available for people impacted by dementia – people suspecting or living with a diagnosis, caregivers and families, too.
Here are some of The Dementia Society’s special programming for the month of January.
