Keeping a clutter-free fridge is so important especially in the week of Christmas!
Not only do we need to fit in our normal week’s groceries but also all the extra special goodies for Christmas Day.
Solution!
Clean out, clean up and organize your fridge before your Christmas grocery shopping so your fridge is fresh and optimized.
*Reminder: Have you ordered your turkey? If not, best to start looking for a frozen one.
Streamline your Fridge! How to Declutter and Clean Your Fridge:
1. declutter front of the fridge. Curate carefully. Choose the best of the best; get rid of the rest.
2. declutter top of the fridge. Clear off. Put decorative bowls or platters on top.
3. take an inventory: Empty your fridge and sort by category as you go. (one door, one drawer and one shelf at a time.) Put leftover veggies in the freezer to make soup.
4. compost rotten & out-of-date items. If you can't find a "use by" date it's probably years old so compost it.
5. clean the shelves, trays and drawers as they're emptied.
Take all removable parts out of the fridge and wash in warm soapy water in the sink. Ensure water is warm not hot, a sudden temperature change may cause cold glass to shatter.
Wipe down bottles, food containers as well.
Spray the inside of the fridge with a solution of vinegar and water. let it sit while you are cleaning the trays and drawers.
Wipe dry the inside of your fridge. Dry the shelves and return to fridge.
First in, first out: Shift the older food to the front and be sure to use these first.
Leftover shelf: Designate a spot just for leftovers and label each with a date. (Use leftovers within a week.)
Designate drawers - one to vegetable, one to fruit, one to meat, a small drawer to cheese and butter.
Keep like items together such as dairy products, snacks, beverages and put condiments on the fridge door.

Let's take a quick review of our Christmas task list. Use N.O.W. N = Need to do, O = Ought to do, W = Want to do. Go through your task list. Decide if it's an N an O or a W. Schedule the need to do in your calendar, if you have time add some want to do and postpone the ought to do for another time. Best of Luck, Cathy
