Let Us Pray (from The Treasury of Daily Prayer)
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! -- (Psalm 146:1)
Lord Jesus, You sent Your angels to the churches of Asia Minor to announce to them either their fidelity to the Gospel or their departure from the true faith. May Your flock today hear the call of these angels to repent and believe in the Gospel, turn from their sins to the only true God, and show forth works of mercy and charity to those who are broken by the fallenness of this world; for You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

What Lutherans Believe
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about our Christian confession within the Lutheran tradition or just reviewing the basics of belief, plan to join Pastor Biermann Sunday evenings in December and January. We will use Luther’s Small Catechism as a springboard into thinking about and discussing the core doctrines of our faith. While this class serves as preparation for becoming a member at Village, it will also be a great time of fellowship and learning for lifelong members. The class will meet at church at 6:30pm on Sundays through January (excluding December 26). Come and bring a friend or two.

Update from the Call Committee:
At the special voters' meeting on 12/5, a brief summary of the call committee survey was presented. (For this presentation, or for the full breakdown of the survey results, email Stephanie Motz in the church office.) The survey was very useful in gathering information to prepare the "pastoral profile" that has been submitted to the District Office. Thank you to everyone in attendance for your time and feedback.
Once we have the necessary information from the District office, our next step will be whittling down the 34 names submitted from the congregation (plus any names the District office may present to us) into 5 names to present to the voters. This next phase will take several weeks. We thank you for your continued prayers.

Untrimming the Church
Trees, wreaths, the outdoor creche and other holiday adornments will come down on Saturday, January 8 beginning at 9 a.m. Sadly, what goes up must come down. Happily, with a good crew, the work goes very quickly, about an hour.

Stewardship Thought
Luke 1:45 – “And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.” The Lord always fulfills what He promises. We can be certain of that, and He has proven it over and over again. This faith in the Lord’s own faithfulness is what gives us the courage to follow the Lord’s commands in the face of the world’s anger and resistance. Mary’s faith also gave her the courage to carry on in her seemingly embarrassed circumstances.

Witness & Outreach Thought
Luke 1:39-45 (46-56): At the news of the prophecy’s fulfillment, Mary burst out singing a song of joy. Today we have seen the prophecy of the Savior come to fulfillment through Jesus. May we also burst forth with great joy and enthusiasm in sharing the saving message of Jesus that this world so desperately needs to hear.
