An Important Note for December's Meeting:
We’ve changed the December meeting from a potluck dinner to a dessert buffet. Come and enjoy wine and desserts that will be prepared by the board. No need to bring an item to share! All refreshments will be provided.
You're invited to the Museum District Woman's Club Holiday Dessert Buffet & Charity on December 15th from 7:30 to 9:00 pm at 3318 Monument Avenue.
Speaker: Liana Elguero, Community Program Manager at Make Space

Light refreshments and wine will be served. In congruence with CDC guidelines, masks are greatly appreciated.
Our December Charity: Make Space

Make Space is a program designed to assist 6th grade girls on developing into strong, healthy women. The program takes place at the Visual Arts Center, where art and friendship engage the girls in fun activities while they learn and discover.

Each school year, 14 sixth-grade girls, all of whom attend Anna Julia Cooper Episcopal School, are paired with 14 local women for a year of mentorship and art-making. VisArts launched the program in the fall of 2008, then called Space of Her Own, and since then it has affected the lives of more than 200 women and girls.

This year, there are two women from the Museum District participating as mentors! Donations from the MDWC will be used toward creating a safe and comfortable space in the girls' homes where they can sleep, study, and display the art created during Make Space.

How You Can Help

You can contribute by bringing a check made out to the Visual Art Center of Richmond or by bringing items for the girls' rooms to the December meeting. Popular items include sparkly string lights, decorative pillows, small desk lamps, picture frames or photo clips.
Will We See You There?

November Meeting Recap
Thanks to everyone who joined us in November for our first regular meeting since February 2019! Regina Toomey hosted the February 2019 meeting, so it was only fitting that our first regular meeting back was at her house as well. We enjoyed snacks, wine, and two speakers! AnnMarie Grohs of Boho Studies and local children's author Christy Somerville shared their "Pandemic Positives" with us, providing hope and inspiration. Click here to purchase Christy's book! It would be a perfect holiday gift for little ones.
