I am now serving full time at the Street Church Ministries Outreach Center which has allowed us to expand our availability and reach in the community. Currently we are open as a drop in center Tuesday through Friday from 8am to 12pm. The Outreach Center on Perry Street serves as a place for the homeless community and people in transition to come in off the streets for food, clothing or just to sit and relax. We have several Chromebooks to help people with both housing and job searching. We also offer information on Substance Abuse Programs and Community Assistance Programs.
On Tuesday evenings we run an English as Second Language (ESL) class for the Hispanic community in our area. We lead weekly Bible Studies and Discipleship Groups and every other Saturday the Outreach Center holds Block Outreach events. The Block Outreach is a two-hour event designed to bless the community and build relationships alongside volunteers from our Partner Churches. Our Block Outreaches offer food, clothing and hygiene product giveaways and often includes breakfast for the homeless in the area.
Every Sunday morning we hold Church services for our fellowship that has been meeting consistently for four years. In addition to our various ways of reaching the community, Street Church Ministries has become a food pantry through our partnership with Mercer Street Friends. This enables us to provide food to our community on a daily basis.
