Let Us Pray (from The Treasury of Daily Prayer)
I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. -- (Psalm 34:4)
Heavenly Father, in the midst of our sufferings for the sake of Christ grant us grace to follow the example of the first martyr, Stephen, that we also may look to the One who suffered and was crucified on our behalf and pray for those who do us wrong; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

What Lutherans Believe
If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about our Christian confession within the Lutheran tradition or just reviewing the basics of belief, plan to join Pastor Biermann Sunday evenings in December and January. We will use Luther’s Small Catechism as a springboard into thinking about and discussing the core doctrines of our faith. While this class serves as preparation for becoming a member at Village, it will also be a great time of fellowship and learning for lifelong members. The class will meet at church at 6:30 p.m. on Sundays through January. Come and bring a friend or two.

|
LifeLight
LifeLight will continue studying Luke at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesdays starting on January 5. All are encouraged to join the class with Pastor Biermann.

Untrimming the Church
Trees, wreaths, the outdoor creche and other holiday adornments will come down on Saturday, January 8, beginning at 9 a.m. Sadly, what goes up must come down. Happily, with a good crew, the work goes very quickly, about an hour. Please sign up in the Lounge to help that day.

Stewardship Thought
Luke 2:40 – “And the child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom. And the favor of God was upon him.” At Christmas God became man. And as a man, Jesus grew up and increased in strength and wisdom. We are called to follow in the footsteps of Jesus, to grow in His image. The power for this growth comes from receiving the grace of Jesus in His Word and Sacraments. How is the Lord calling you to grow this year?

Witness & Outreach Thought
Luke 2:40-52: At the age of twelve, Jesus obediently went to Jerusalem with Joseph and Mary to celebrate the Passover. But, Jesus was also aware of the truth that He was the only-begotten Son of God and needed to be in constant contact with His Father. He needed to be able to have a connection with His Father to carry out the mission He was sent to earth to accomplish. Christmas reminds us that Jesus is God’s greatest gift to the world. What a privilege we have to share God’s gift of a Savior with others. May we always be ready and willing to share this Good News whenever the opportunity arises.
