Dear Friends,
I received a text this morning in response to my sermon question this last week. What brings you joy? The text told me that giving is one of her favorite ways to find joy. From presents to donations, thinking beyond ourselves is one of the best ways to bring ourselves a bit more joy. Not out of obligation, but in the desire to spread love. It’s why giving is a part of the celebration of Christ’s birth, giving to others is a way of honoring Christ.
One Christmas tradition here at Flame of Faith United Methodist Church is to give away our Christmas Eve offering. In past years, we’ve focused on Solar Ovens, the Great Plains Food Bank, and the backpack program.
This year, the Leadership Team has decided to give our Christmas Eve offering to the new West Fargo Food Pantry. They are in need of a commercial refrigerator and we’d love to help them out. So on Christmas Eve, I invite you to share in the gift-giving of Christ, to our families, but also to so many in our extended community.
It is a joy to serve such a giving community,
In Christ,
Pastor Sara

Just as we know that joy is a part of Christmas, we know too that the other, harder emotions are a regular addition to our lives. You are invited to a service acknowledging the grief and struggle of the Advent and Christmas seasons. We will gather in prayer to remind ourselves that God’s hope is here with us, even when we can’t feel it.

Need a gift for that someone special or just for yourself? The Mission Committee is selling Journals and Picture Note Cards again this year. Pictures on the note cards are from our previous mission trips to the Dominican Republic. They are at the church on the Missions counter. There is an envelope by the basket to put your money in.
