Guest Room Rescue! Crisis Declutter Your Guest Room Fast:
Grab garbage, recycling bags, donation boxes, laundry basket. Set your timer for 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes. Whatever you're up for. Company's coming and you've got to make room.
1. Start on the floor by eliminating trash first - use sturdy garbage and recycling bags.
2. Clear surfaces and sort items by category if needed so you can see what you have.
3. Clear top bureau drawer for guests.
4. Leave some space in closet for guests.
3. Donate duplicate items, outgrown clothes and shoes, anything you’ll never use again
4. Trash or recycle broken items, plastic and paper. Take outside.
5. Box up the donations and put in your car for drop off.
6. Box up storage items and label “to be sorted by June 2022” or “name with short description of contents. Painter’s tape is great use black felt pen to write. Store from floor to ceiling in closet, on shelves under bed.
7. Take away items that belong in other rooms.
8. Dust and clean off surfaces. Vacuum floor.
Take a moment to notice how different the room feels.
