The mission of FPDS is planting seeds of Christlikeness in the hearts of children; pursuing excellence in academics; and preparing students for future service in God’s kingdom in their homes, churches, and professions. One way that we carry out our mission is with an annual school wide Christmas project.
This year, our FPDS students, families, and staff members provided Christmas gifts for 52 children through the ministry of God’s Haven. The mission of God’s Haven, serving South and West Jackson, is to proclaim and demonstrate the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ by meeting the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of men, women, and children who are homeless or on the verge of becoming homeless.
Each classroom was assigned a God’s Haven child to shop for, and, most importantly, pray for. Director Bridgett Coleman spoke to our students in Chapel. Our sixth graders even served this ministry at an off-campus Christmas party by packing sack lunches for God’s Haven to deliver over the break from school.
It is a joy and blessing to partner with God’s Haven. Click on the video to view photos and a “Merry Christmas” message from FPDS. Also, please enjoy the video below from our beloved first grade play “Sent to be our King.”
