Dear Tolleson ESD Families & Community;
I hope this letter finds you well this week as we look to our Winter Break beginning on Friday, December 17th with early release!
During the break, I hope you and your family are able to relax and enjoy time together. I know it has been a challenging year for so many, and the uncertainty during the pandemic can be both physically and emotionally exhausting. Our school counselors have provided resources for you at https://www.tollesonschools.com/Page/1677. These are excellent resources for you ranging from “how to get your child to talk” to “calming activities” and “self-care” and more. I am confident you will find them very useful and hope you will have time to review them and use those that apply to your family and children.

Perhaps your family might also find it useful to set a time each day over break for family reading time. Whether reading aloud with your children as you share a book or each of you picking up your own book or reading materials and setting twenty to thirty minutes aside each day to read, this can be a very valuable family and learning time.
Simple learning activities can also be part of baking or cooking together over the holidays if this is something your family enjoys. Measuring time, ingredients and heat levels for baking and cooking can be full of fun learning for our treasures. Whatever activities you and your children enjoy, there can be numerous simple and fun learning opportunities incorporated.
Thank you so much for all you do to support your child’s learning and the overall well-being of our entire education community. We appreciate your support of our health and safety protocols. As we return to school on Monday, January 3rd, we will continue our health and safety protocols – including the use of face masks indoors. Espero que esta carta los encuentre bien esta semana mientras esperamos nuestras vacaciones de invierno que comienzan el viernes 17 de diciembre con salida temprana.
Durante el receso, espero que usted y su familia puedan relajarse y disfrutar del tiempo juntos. Sé que ha sido un año desafiante para muchos, y la incertidumbre durante la pandemia puede ser agotadora tanto física como emocionalmente. Quizás a su familia también le resulte útil establecer un tiempo cada día durante las vacaciones para el tiempo de lectura familiar. Ya sea que lea en voz alta con sus hijos mientras comparte un libro o que cada uno de ustedes tome su propio libro o material de lectura y reserve de veinte a treinta minutos cada día para leer, esto puede ser un tiempo familiar y de aprendizaje muy valioso.
Las actividades sencillas de aprendizaje también pueden formar parte de hornear o cocinar juntos durante las vacaciones si esto es algo que su familia disfruta. Medir el tiempo, los ingredientes y los niveles de calor para hornear y cocinar puede ser un aprendizaje divertido para nuestros tesoros. Independientemente de las actividades que disfruten usted y sus hijos, se pueden incorporar numerosas oportunidades de aprendizaje sencillas y divertidas.
