SAPO's head selection slightly moves forward

After the public outcry surrounding the SAPO's head selection process, the Selection Commission managed to convene on 7 December and announced the results of the practical exam of the candidates, which had taken place back on 28 October. The members of the Commission controlled by the Deputy Head of the President’s Office Oleg Tatarov insisted on delaying the next stage of the competition until 21 December.

At the moment, NABU detective Oleksandr Klymenko has a 21-point advantage over his competitor PGO prosecutor Andriy Syniuk. Given that the maximum point for the next stage of the competition (interview) is 25, Klymenko has a clear perspective to win. That's why one of the main scenarios to disrupt the competition is to once again delay the interviews, which will likely buy time to block the competition through a decision of the Kyiv District Administrative Court.
US imposes sanctions on two Ukrainian officials
On December 9, the US imposed sanctions on Oleksandr Tupytskyi, judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, (under Department of State’s visa restriction authority) and Andriy Portnov, Deputy Head of Administration of President Viktor Yanukovych puppetmaster of Ukrainian corrupt judiciary (under Global Magnitsky sanctions program). The AntAC has advocated for sanctioning of those individuals in the framework of our VisaBan campaign.
Daria Kaleniuk takes part in the Summit for Democracy
Executive Director of the AntAC Daria Kaleniuk was invited to take part in the Summit for Democracy as a speaker of the panel discussion "Preventing and Countering Corruption". In her remarks, she drew attention to Ukraine's success in fighting corruption and focused on the importance of synchronized actions aimed at denying access to the US and the EU of the oligarchs and corrupt officials as well as their tainted capitals.
