On CSE in Pakistan with Danish Tariq

On this episode, Danish talks to us about his journey, research-driven advocacy, the highs and lows, the inconsistency around health rights in Pakistan, the situation of CSE and how organizations are galvanizing for action. Danish Tariq is a Youth Advocate working for Meaningful and Inclusive Youth Participation, Informed Decision Making and Policy Advocacy. He is currently working as the Youth Focal Point at FP2030 and CEWG Pakistan selected by Ministry off National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Pakistan. He is the Project Officer at Youth Advocacy Network (YAN) and Fellow at the Population Reference Bureau, Washington DC.

Erika Dupuis is The PACT’s New Vice Chair

We are happy to have Erika Dupuis join us at The PACT.We are happy to have Erika Dupuis joining The PACT as Vice Chair. Erika Dupuis (she/they) is a passionate organizer from the unceded and traditional lands of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island, also known as the greater Toronto area. Erika is a graduate of the Bachelors and Masters of Social Work programs at Ryerson University, a recipient of a Post-Masters Certificate from New York University, and is currently a Master of Science in Public Health Student at the London School of Hygiene in Tropical Medicine.

Report of the Advocacy & Social Accountability Workshop 

This exercise was a 3-day virtual activity that was carried out via the Zoom meeting platform and had participants from the West & central Africa region & Asia Pacific region. Participants were drawn from member organizations of The PACT, and youth-led and youth-serving organizations working around issues such as HIV/AIDS, youth sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), drug policies, sex workers, human rights, and LGBTQI persons. The PACT sought to strengthen the capacity of its member organizations and young people across these regions on advocacy and social accountability.

The PACT Commissions an Investigative Report to Examine the Poor Treatment of Young Africans Living with HIV

Sub-Saharan Africa has remained the most-affected region, recording not only the highest prevalence and deaths but also the greatest number of new infections. Over two-thirds of people living with HIV across the world are in Africa and nearly two-thirds of new infections are from the continent. Meanwhile, paying attention to minority groups is critical to ending the epidemic. According to WHO, key populations and their sexual partners accounted for over half of all new infections in Africa in 2018, especially in West and Central Africa where the figure was as high as 64 per cent.
