FCS Day 2021: FCS Ties it All Together was an #FCSsuccess

Celebrating FCS Ties It All Together, was a special way to honor our founder Ellen Swallow Richards and her work in the field! Absolute #FCSsuccess!

The theme gave a nod to the apron,  a symbol of generosity and hospitality. Like the apron, Family and Consumer Sciences professionals "give generously" to the individuals, families, and communities that they serve and are some of the most hospitable individuals!

FCS students and professionals participated in the 3 FCS Day celebration activities which spotlighted an apron design showcase, favorite healthy recipes, and other stories and inspirations!  Participants in the virtual event heard from 2 special presenters EllynAnne Geisel (apron curator) and Dan Wagner (FCS Teacher) and viewed submissions from the 3 celebration activities. If you missed the event, you can watch the recording and earn 1PDU. See how impactful our signature event has been this year by clicking on the graphic to expand:

SPECIAL ISSUE OF FCSRJ on FCS DAY 2021

The special virtual issue of the Family and Consumer Sciences Research Journal focused on FCS Day 2021! The articles in the FCS Day 2021 virtual issue were chosen from previous issues of FCSRJ to show the breadth of FCS as well as the interconnectedness between the content areas. The issue features articles that “tie together” nutrition and parenting, gerontology and textiles, health and furnishing textiles, families in crisis and interior design, and parenting and finance. These articles also exemplify the different types of research that “tie together” FCS, from qualitative research to quantitative research to in-depth literature reviews. Our gift to you is a free-access to the virtual issue through 12/31/2021.
