The Youth Are Thankful for the After School Program!

All four of our After School Program classes put together performances for a big audience on Nov. 30th! What did you think of the video at the top of this newsletter?

We asked our students what they are most thankful for and here are some of their responses:

“I am thankful for… my family, the privilege to come to music class, getting to meet new friends, Reuben (a music classmate), [my] Bass, that my dad is a musician and I can borrow his bass, I learned how to play songs and perform for an audience, getting the opportunity of Love Learning Music, and for the privilege to act and sing.”

The impact from this semester of classes with a big performance to work towards has truly been life-changing for our children and teenagers. Some have found passion for music, and changed their perspective on school, (especially math). They are driven, determined, focused, and staying away from trouble and close to their musical instruments.

Some have overcome serious struggles with anxiety through mentorship from the Love Learning Music team. And all of the students have learned that they can overcome challenges, believe in themselves, have great teamwork and social connections. The life changes made this semester have been amazing!

Therapeutic Results from Mentorship & Music

How have you overcome trauma in your life? You may not even know about things that happened before age 5, they are repressed, forgotten, processed, or healed. Think about a child or some children you know who have suffered trauma, how are they overcoming? How can Love Learning Music help?

For Daidrian & Alaya, the brother and sister we have been helping through the adoption process, having musical instruments in their home and weekly sessions with Jean Pierre has been life changing! They came up with the verbiage and determined their piano keyboard and electronic drum set are their “SAFE ZONES.” Through guided discovery, Jean Pierre helped the kids realize music is an available tool when they experience any type of anxiety. Thanks to our Resource Provision Program and our Music Mentorship Program, Daidrian & Alaya are not only learning music and dance, they are learning how to process their anxieties and traumas to receive the therapeutic results innate to music and mentorship!

The children are still short $37,455 of the goal! We can all do creative fundraising, send letters to loved ones, donate, and encourage others to do the same if they would like to help, and we can join together to provide Christmas gifts for the kids.
