Special Training Opportunities for ANPR Members

Leadership Virtual Training Opportunity For ANPR Members:

ANPR Treasurer Bill Wade is working with a couple colleagues (non-NPS) to develop a generic, virtual “Emerging Leader Course” primarily for use in the public sector (although it may become available through the NPS if approval can be obtained). The course is designed for those who have very recently been selected for their first leadership (supervision) position, or for those who aspire and are competitive for such a position. The course ultimately will be conducted on a virtual learning management system over an eight-week period. Each week will consist of some material presented in an “asynchronous” format (accessible by students at any time during the week) and one “synchronous” session at the end of each week via Zoom.

The “asynchronous" material has been completed and needs to be reviewed from a “student” perspective. This opportunity is being offered to ANPR members as a member benefit. If you are (preferably) in your first leadership (supervision) assignment, or aspire to get into that kind of position and are competitive for such a position, you can apply to accomplish this review.

Four reviewers will be selected. This “training” is applicable for any NPS discipline. Only the “asynchronous” material will be reviewed – the synchronous material will not be included.

What You’ll Be Expected To Do:
  • Complete the on-line Harrison Assessment questionnaire (20-30 minutes) and pay for the subsequent personalized report. You can go to www.harrisonassessments.com for information about this assessment. Your cost will be $150.00.
  • Complete the personal debrief on your Harrison Assessment report (approximately one hour via Zoom). No cost (usually costs $150).
  • Complete the HA on-line questionnaire and receive the debrief prior to being given access to the asynchronous training modules.
  • Serve as a “student” to review and provide specific feedback (details to be provided if selected) on the eight asynchronous modules of the course. You will be able to access the course at times of your own choosing. Each module will take 1-2 hours to review. No cost (usual cost would be approximately $1000).
  • Complete these requirements by no later than January 26, 2022.

What You Will Get:
  • The benefit of your Harrison Assessment report and debrief – with some coaching during the debrief with some suggestions for making your leadership behaviors more effective.
  • Approximately 16 hours of “state-of-the-art” comprehensive leadership training content.

How to Apply:
  • Submit an application to Bill Wade at bwade@anpr.org no later than COB December 17. Your application must include:
    • Your name, address, phone number and email address.
    • Current position and how long you’ve been in it.
    • Brief (no more than 150 words) bio.
    • Acknowledgment that you will submit payment to ANPR for the Harrison Assessment report, if selected and when invoiced.
