A Pastoral Letter  |  December 10

Dear faithful friends in Christ,

In the two months since I last wrote to you, life has continued apace at CPC. Among the things going on, Rob McAdams has used the adult Sunday class to expose us to the music which he is systematically and carefully rolling out week by week. Elizabeth McAdams has continued to supervise our unique and wonderful outdoor classroom for her eager students. Eunike Indrawan quietly and creatively has found ways to care for our youth. And water has remarkably continued to come out of the faucets and electricity out of the outlets! Woo-hoo!

Admittedly some of these things are more exciting than the others. But what they share in common is that they all happen because of your generosity. I write to appeal to that generosity once more.

Our inboxes and mailboxes this time of year grow fat on requests for end-of-the-year support from many worthy missionaries and non-profits. Being the generous people you are, your impulse is to support these good causes. That is a good thing, but please do not forget the end-of-year needs of your church!

I spoke at our congregational meeting in October of what it would take to finish the year in the black. The response to that appeal has been encouraging. We are getting close, but we still have a way to go. Would you please consider an end-of-the-year gift for the church? Every bit you can give matters.

It matters, of course, because ending the year having taken in what we spent is a responsible stewardship. But it also matters for our future planning. We want to continue caring for teens, developing innovative ministry for children, and reliably turning on the A/C. To responsibly plan for these things in the upcoming year requires a good cash flow in this one.

So I’m joining the bloat in your inbox to ask you, in your end-of-year giving to support those causes close to your heart, of which I hope CPC is one.

On the practical side, you can give on any Sunday using the basket by the back door of the sanctuary). You can also give online, or by mailing your gift to CPC (PO Box 622962, Oviedo, Florida 32762). All gifts need to be posted prior to Friday, 12/31 to be included in this year’s giving.

Your support is a great encouragement.

Gratefully yours in Christ,

Randy
